Laugharne 16 pts Cardigan 24 pts

Conditions in early December were perfect  for rugby as Laugharne kicked off, but they had to endure an early onslaught from Cardigan as they battered away at their smaller opposition. However diminutive flyhalf Owain Thomas and centres Tom Jameson and Luke Starkey scythed their opponents down with precision to give them the platform for the rest of the team to copy. In the 6th minute Cardigan had the Laugharne line at their mercy but up popped centre Jameson kick to deny them. the 9th minute scrum half L. Rogers broke the deadlock with a penalty kick, quickly followed by a 2nd penalty in the 15th minute. However in the 20th minute centre  Jameson reduced the deficit for Laugharne with a penalty for Cardigan straying offside. Laugharne continued to battle and the smaller pack consisting of locks Tomos Rees and Rhys Roberts supporting props Rhys Thomas and Dorian Harries and livewire hooker Tom Waters tore into Cardigan. This allowed the back row of flankers Carwyn Evans and Carwyn Jones and skipper and No.8 Carl Smith to frustrate and unsettle the heavier Cardigan eight.

However in the 28th minute Cardigan put together a good piece of close contact play down the blind side as they worked wing A. Jenkins into the corner for an unconverted try. But in the 32nd minute much against the run of play Laugharne worked their way into the Cardigan 22 and were awarded a penalty. Flyhalf Thomas kicked into touch for the 5m lineout. With a great take by lock Rees the ball was collected and smuggled to prop D. Harries who powered over for the try. With an excellent effort from the touchline Jameson converted to bring the half time score to Laugharne 10pts Cardigan 11pts.
From the restart it was a case of who would buckle first, centre Starkey was having an explosive game as he ran menacingly at the opposition and having co-centre Jameson to run angles from him caused Cardigan all sorts of bother .Laugharne were refreshingly strong in the tackle which upset Cardigan`s rhythm, despite the first 15minutes of the 2nd half degenerating into somewhat of a stalemate with neither side in the ascendency. In the 26th minute of the half, very much against the state of play Cardigan centre dropped a lazy looking goal to extend the Cardigan scoreline. This was the catalyst for scoring to resume with centre Jameson reducing the deficit with a well taken penalty of his own.

Fullback Gareth Davies and wing Tom Spiers tried to get in on the action  and break the deadlock and not without some success they took the game to Cardigan with Cardigan getting more and more frustrated. Cardigan weathered all Laugharne could throw at them and despite a further Jameson penalty could not prevent scrum half Rogers scoring a late try which he duly converted to secure the victory for Cardigan and also deny Laugharne a losing bonus point.
